Question
I was told that in my reading my kasrahs
are not complete. Is the kasrah more of an e sound such as in mean or
bean, or is it more of a short e sound in English.
Answer
The kasrah is considered a shortened
version of the medd letter ya',
. It
is not advisable to compare it to English vowels or sounds because those
sounds very from region to region, dialect to dialect. What may be the
proper sound for
in an English example in
one country, or one area of a country, will not be the proper sound in
another.
What is needed to acquire the proper sound of a kasrah is a prolongation of
the medd letter
, then shortening that exact
same sound to the length of a vowel.
