Question

Could you please explain for me if there are actually 3 lams in the writing of the name of Allah, subhanahu wa ta'aala,-

one with a shaddah and one standing alone? May Allah bless you. 

Answer

There are indeed three of the letter  in the writing of the name of , the first standing alone, the second two are in the shaddah, but only two are pronounced, the two of the shaddah. .  The first  is not pronounced because it is  shamsiyah and merges into the next , which is the reason for the shaddah.  If you do not know what the  shamsiyah is, please look at the tidbit archives under “laam saakinah rules-part 1”.
