Question

Asslaam alaikum wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh

I have small question.
How many types of TAA's are there, as I understand it is of two types: TAA MAFTOOHA () & TAA MARBOOTA ( ), and some one told me that there is a third type of TAA, namely TAA GAIR MARBOOTA   ( ) ?
As far as I knew, both the   and  are same.
Please explain through your kind guidance.

Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakaatuh.

The , or the female ha’ has two shapes depending on the letter preceding it.  If the letter that precedes it joins to it, the  looks like  as in the word   , and if the letter before the female ha’ does not connect to it, the  then looks like as in the word  . They are both the same exact letter, but just look slightly different depending on whether it is joined with the letter preceding it or not.

There are different names for the each of the two letters in question.  The letter is sometimes called ta’ maftooHah, sometimes ta’ mabsooTah, and most often, just plain .

The   , or female ha’ is called ta marbooTah, or ha’ marbootah, or .
