Question (29 Sha'baan 1422/ Nov.14, 2001) Could
you please inform me as to the origin of the marked places of prostration in
the Qur'an?
Question (28 Sha'baan 1422/ Nov.13, 2001) Please
let me know how you all feel about Israel, the Jewish people, and Christians.
Is Jerusalem mentioned in the Koran? Thank you. Question (28 Sha'baan 1422/ Nov.13, 2001) Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah In
one of your lessons, you explained: "Whenever
a saakinah letter comes before a voweled letter of the same articulation point
and characteristics, in other words the same exact letter, there is
merging of the saakinah letter into the second letter. This merging is called
... small merging of two of the same"
(Ex: Quraysh 4:
). I also
see similar mergings, with close letters but not the same exact
letter (Ex1: in Al-Kafirun, Verse 4:
"maa abattum"
is formed from "ma abad tum"; Ex2: Aali Imraan: 72:
"wa
qaalattaaifatun" the merging here seems to be from qaalat and taaifatun).
I wonder whether these cases form a different type of merging, or whether they
actually obey the same rule that you explained. Question (25 Sha'baan 1422/ Nov.10, 2001) Would
you please serve as a judge for a dispute about the above. How do you pronounce
the letter
with
a 'shaddah' above it as in aayah #10 of surah al-Mujaadilah
. The
first opinion is that the first ra' has sukoon above it, and the second ra'
has a kasrah above it. According to the rules of tajweed, the first ra'
should have 'tafkhim', and the second ra' should have 'tarqiq'. The
second opinion is that the both ra's should be read with tarqiq. Please settle
this dispute between two well-versed Hafez al-Qur'an scholars, so that this
student will not be so confused. :) Also, please include your
proof so that I may pass it on to them. Thanks. Jazaaka Allahu khairan. Question
(23
Sha'baan 1422/ Nov.8, 2001) Alhamdulillah for your informative site! Is the test that you had posted some time back still available on the site? I thought it might be good to practice trying to answer the questions.
Question (22
Sha'baan 1422/ Nov.7, 2001) In reading your lesson about the letters in the beginning of surahs I am wondering about the letter - as explained, it follows the med leen. Why is it not possible to read it 2 counts as well as 4 and 6? Is there any particular reason for that? Jazakumu Allahu khair. Question (20
Sha'baan 1422/ Nov.5, 2001) Is it important for a Muslim to learn to speak Arabic? Question (20 Sha'baan 1422/ Nov.5, 2001) In ayah 57 of surah Yusuf, the first two words begin with a hamzah after the alif and lam that means "the" - but they are placed differently on the alif - Should I read these differently? Thank you and may Allah reward you. Question (17 Sha'baan 1422/ Nov.2, 2001) Assalamu
alaykum wa rahmatullah I
would like to have clarification about the reading speeds, as per your
recent explanation. What is the relationship between the three speeds your
explained and two commonly mentioned reading styles "tartil" and
"tajweed?" Are not these two styles too distinguished from
their speed?
Question (16
Sha'baan 1422/ Nov.1, 2001) This
is a question about stopping and starting in the middle of aayaat; to my ear,
being an non-Arab one, it sounds better, even necessary, to start on
if stopping on the word:
in for example this aayah in surah Hud:
They said: "O Shu'aib! Does your Salāt command that we leave off what our fathers used to worship, or that we leave off doing what we like with our property? Verily, you are the forbearer, right-minded!" or
also in the aayah before it - it would seem necessary to start on
if
stopping on
"That which is left by Allah for you (after giving the rights of the people) is better for you, if you are believers. And I am not set over you as a guardian."
Is
that right? Jazaakum Allahu
khairan. |
