I want to know the ruling of the following word from surah al fajr : ياليتني here do we madd leen or yaa leen
JazaakAllahu Khairan for your response
Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
The word of one calling out in distress: ياليتني has a leen letter in it, but not a medd leen. لَيت has a fathah on the laam and is followed by a ya' saakinah, which is the condition for a leen letter, so there is a minimal lengthening, less than a natural two count medd, but more than a normal vowel.
The last letter of the word is a ya' saakinah preceded by a kasrah. This is a ya' meddiyyah and is lengthened two vowel counts
