I have 2 questions regarding the lessons on imaalah in the reading of Warsh. 

1.  Consider the total set of words which may be read with either taqleel or no imaalah at all – let us call these the “Optional Words”.

If one decides to read a particular Optional Word with taqleel, does it automatically become necessary to read every other Optional Words with taqleel? Or can one read one Optional Word with taqleel, and then read another Optional Word with no imaalah?

2.  All the Warsh mushafs which I have seen are printed such that all Optional Words are shown as having taqleel apart from: 

a) those words which you have mentioned in part E of Lesson 11 of Rules for Warsh which also have a pronoun Ha.

b) the first word in (88:4) and related words, such as the first words of (92:15), (111:3) etc.  There may be others, but I have not yet come across any. 

My question is: what is the reason for these mushafs showing all Optional Words as having taqleel apart from the exceptions in a) and b) ?

Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

1.  The recitation of Warsh hasor lack of it on some words (), and if one adopts for reading these words with , then he/she must read all of them with and likewise must adopt the appropriate length for , which is either four vowel counts for mandatory  on  , or six vowel counts for allowed  on ’.

2.  The markings on the words that may be read with  is necessary so those reading Warsh will know which words have , even if he/she is reading the allowed  way of no  on the words that allow both  and lack of it.  When a student is learning the recitation of Warsh, invariably he/she is taught to read with , since it is a new concept for the most part.

The  word and similar words or derivatives, has two allowed ways of being read if you are reading   with .  The  has or heaviness (tafkheem) on the laam, and with this heaviness, one cannot read with . Therefore, there are two allowed ways of reading this word (or similar words) when reading with  of , the first is with  of the lam and  (no taqleel) of the alif, the second way is tarqeeq of the lam and  of the alif.  Therefore, the mark for  is not used on this word and words like it, since the rule isn’t the same as other words that have allowed  .
