JazkAllahu Khairan for setting up such a useful and much needed web site.
I have question about the letter AYN as a letter being between bayniyyah and shiddah.
When i listen to the famous recitor Husry he spends longer on the AYN when it is saakin then he does on the letters with shiddah! This has confused me. I will greatly appreciate if you could help me.
JazakAllah
Answer
Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
The letter
is a letter of the bayyinah group, also called
, and the timing of a
saakinah should be less that a letter of rikhaawah, but more than a letter of shiddah, so what you heard reflects the correct timing of the 'ayn saakinah.
