Wa Jazakum Allahu Khairan. Wa Alaikum Assalam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,
comes from the deepest part of the throat. It is similar to the sound when we take a deep breath. One must notice that after doing exercise or long walks we tend to take deep breaths. This sound is similar to the sound of the small
. Think of feeling the deepest part of the throat while saying the letter.
comes from the middle of the throat. Think of the throat squeezing against itself from the middle, and try to pronounce it from that point. There is plenty of air that runs with this letter.
Try not to think of them as two different "ha's" in English. The two letters have two distinct articulation points and have two different different sounds. We recommend you listen to recordings of the Qur'an, pick a short surah that has both letters and concentrate on the different sound each letter makes. This will help you also in differentiating between them.
