as salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,
Ma ash Allaah, Barakallaah feekum, Beneficial web page. Can you please give me advice on the best way to memorise the Quran? I know 1 juz, my first language is English, and I have no teacher. I want to memorise Allaahs beautiful, wise and perfect words. What reciter is the best to learn from?
Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
May Allah grant you your desire and make you of those who memorize His perfect words and apply them to your life.
Jazakum Allahu khairan for the comments.
Although there are many reciters that are good to listen to, none can replace a teacher. One can only pick up so much by listening, but a teacher is needed for corrections. We ask Allah to grant you the best of teachers for His Words. Sheikh Abdullah Basfar, Sheikh Mahmood Al-Husaray, and Sheikh Sahl Yaseen (difficult to find his recordings) are all excellent reciters and good ones to learn from as far as listening to correct recitation. Insha’ Allah, you will be guided to the best of teachers for correcting your recitation.
Masha’ Allah, it is a big blessing that you have memorized a juz’. There are many with English as their first language that have memorized a great portion or all of the Qur’an, and we pray that you will be among those who have memorized the complete Qur’an in the future. Our suggestion for memorizing the Qur’an is always to make a schedule that you are certain that you can adhere to, and be very strict in following it. Do not get so energetic in your schedule making that you find it too much and give up after a few months, instead make sure it is reasonable.
