Question
In ayah 99 of Surah muminoon is the second raa thin or thick? There is a last ah and then a hamzatul wasl before the raa, so if one continues which rule does it take on? Answer When continuing or stopping on the word with the red ra', the ra' has tafkheem (heavy or thick). This is because it is preceded by hamzah al-wasl. When there is a ra' saakinah preceded by hamzah al-wasl there is tafkheem of the ra'. It is not related to stopping or continuing. This is rule 7 of the 8 rules of takfheem of the ra', which you can find at the following link: http://www.abouttajweed.com/tafkheem-and-tarqeeq/tafkheem-and-tarqeeq-part-3.html |
