Question
Assalamu alaikum,  On reading surah Hud, verse 41, there is a black circle under the raa of "majr".  I have heard it pronounced as a kasra - majree.  Please can you explain the meaning of this circle and if it is pronounced as a kasra if found in other parts of the Quran ?
Jazakallahu.

Answer
Wa alaikum assaalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh
The word  is a special word and the only word in which Hafs reads with imaalah, which is a mix between an alif and a ya' and a mix between the fathah and kasrah.  The little diamond shape under the ra'  is an indication that there is a special rule here.
