Question
Assalamu Alaikum. Please can you tell me if someone is reading the Indian/Pakistani printed script of Quran how he would read the first word in Surat Yaseen verse 21, as a kasra is not printed for hamzat-ul-wasl in this particular word in this script, whereas a kasra is printed for the first word in verse 64. Jazak Allah Khair. Answer Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh, The word in the shaddah, and it has a fathah on it. In verbs starting with hamzah al-wasl, if the third letter has a fathah or a kasrah, the hamzah al-wasl (we count hamzah al-wasl as a letter) then would begin with a kasrah. So in this case, the third letter of the command form of a verb starting with a hamzah al-wasl has a fathah on it, so we would begin this word by putting a kasrah on the hamzah al-wasl. Wa iyyaakum |
