Question
Assalaamu 3alaekum

I was born and lived in Libya and learned how to recite in the way of Qaloon from the Shatibiya there. According to a book I have found recently that the tareeq abo nasheet always has a sukun on meem jam' but tareeq alhulwani has the sila. The shatbiya is from Abo nasheet so how can we have sila of meem al jam'? Sorry for poor English.

may Allah give you good

Answer
Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
Baarak Allahu feekum.   In An-Nashr fi-l-qira'aat al-3ashr by Imam Ibn Al-Jazaree, volume one, page 273 in our copy (sometimes there is a slight difference in page numbers among different printings), it states that the silah and lack of silah of the meem al-jam3 are both related by the different turuq of Abee Nasheet related by Ad-Danee.  It is well known that the tareeq Ash-Shaatibiyy was taken from Ad-Danee.  At the bottom of page 273 it states, and the different ways were recorded  [sukoon of the meem and silah of the meem] by the author of At-Tayseer min tareeq abee Nasheet and the option was issued for it in Ash-Shatibiyyah....

It also states in the Nashr on the same page that both sukoon and silah of the meem were related by Ad-Dani by tareeq al-Hulwanee.

Your English is fine, masha Allah.
Wa assalaam
