Asalamu alaykum,

I have read in a book about the turuq of yaqub that there is a certain tareeq that has idghaam kabeer. I recall reading on your site the idghaam kabeer is unique to the recitation of as soosi. So I would like to know the differences between the idghaam of the two or if it is too long to discuss a resource that addresses this question.

Jazakumullahu khairan

Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
What we have described on the site as to the ten qira'aat is tareeq ash-Shaatibiyyah and ad-Durrah, since they are what the majority of Muslims who know about the qira'aat are familiar with these.  In the recitation of Yaqoob related in the Durrah poem, there are only a few idhgaam kabeer, and the general rule for Yaqoob in this tareeq is idh-haar when there is a kabeer relationship between two letters which are mutaqaaribayn.

In tareeq at-Tayyibah, which involves many turuq for each raawee of the ten qiraa'aat there are turuq which have idhgaam kabeer for Yaqoob, as well as Duri Abi 'Amr.   You may want to use Rawdah An-Nadheer by Imam Muhammed Al-Mutawaali as a reference, or of course, the main reference is An-Nashr fi-l-qira'aat al-'Ashr by Imam Ibn Al-Jazaree, may Allah be merciful to both of them.

Wa iyyaakum.  Wa assalaam alaikum.
