Question
Asllam alaikum,  May Allah bless you for your contribution towards reciting of the Quran.

I was reading your chapter on mutamathilayn.

I am slightly confused on the ayah found in surah haaqah.

The chapter mentions that there are two ways of reading "maa liyah. halaka" one is with sakta and the other way is with idghaam.

My questions were:

1.)Is sakta necessary (wajib) here accordig to tareeq shatiby? and secondly

2.)Is it better to do idgaam here or sakta when joining the two ayah?

I would be grateful for your comments.  Maslaam

Answer
Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
The two allowed ways of joining the last word of aayah 28,  and the firs word of aayah 29,  of surah Al-Haaqah  are for Hafs 'an 'Aasim by the way of Shaatibiyyah and by the ways in tareeq at-Tayyibah.  In fact almost all the qurra' of the ten qira'aat join these two aayaat in the same allowed two ways (the idghaam or the with the ), except a few of the qiraa'aat who drop the saakinah of (an extra letter added to the root word).
There is no preference of one over the other when joining these two aayaat, either idhgaam of the of into the of  , or making of the and making a , or breathless pause between the two words.  If one reads with the between the two words, if is jaa'z, or allowed, but not waajib .

Wa assalaam alaikum wa rahmatullah
