Question
I know that there are three ways of joining Surah Anfaal with Surah Tauba in Hafs. I want to ask what if we want to join another Surah like Surah Al Fatiha with Surah Tauba? Are there still three ways to join a Surah before Surah Anfaal with Surah Tauba in Hafs? Answer There are actually 15 possible ways of joining Surah Al-Anfaal with Surah At-Tawbah, and this is not unique to the riwaayah of Hafs, . 1) By stopping on the last word of Al-Anfaal, , with a pure sukoon and lengthening the medd two counts, then taking a breath and starting At-Tawbah (no basmalah of course). 2) Stopping with a pure sukoon and lengthening the medd four vowel counts, then taking a breath and starting AT-Tawbah. 3) Stopping with a pure sukoon and lengthening the medd six vowel counts, taking a breath and starting At-Tawbah. 4) Stopping with after lengthening the medd of the last word of Al-Anfaal, , for two vowel counts, taking a breath and starting At-Tawbah 5) Stopping with after lengthening the medd of the last word four vowel counts, taking a breath and starting at-Tawbah. 6) Stopping with after lengthening the medd of the last word six vowel counts, taking a breath and starting At-Tawbah. 7) Stopping with on the last word of Al-Anfaal, , which would only be with two vowel counts, taking a breath and starting at-Tawbah. 8. Stopping with a (breathless pause) on the last word of Al-Anfaal, after lenghening this word two vowel counts, then continuing on to start at-Tawba in the same breath (the sakt is in between al-Anfal and At-Tawbah). 9) Stopping with a (breathless pause) on the last word of Al-Anfaal after lenghening the last word four vowel counts, then continuing on to start at-Tawba (the sakt is in between al-Anfal and At-Tawbah) 10) Stopping with a (breathless pause) on the last word of Al-Anfal after lenghening the last word six vowel counts, then continuing on to start at-Tawba (the sakt is in between al-Anfal and At-Tawbah. 11) Reading with after lengthening the medd of the last word of Al-Anfaal two vowel counts, with a (breathless pause) between Al-Anfaal and At-Tawbah, then starting At-Tawbah on that same breath. 12) Reading with after lengthening the medd of the last word of Al-Anfaal four vowel counts, with a (breathless pause) between Al-Anfaal and At-Tawbah, then start At-Tawbah on that same breath. 13) Reading with after lengthening the medd of the last word of Al-Anfaal six vowel counts, with a (breathless pause) between Al-Anfaal and At-Tawbah, then start At-Tawbah on that same breath. 14) Reading with on the last word of Al-Anfaal which would only be with two vowel counts, making a (a breathless pause) then continuing to start At-Tawbah in that same breath. 15) Joining the end of surah Al-Anfaal with the beginning of At-Tawbah in one breath. We can only join two sequential surahs with each other, we cannot join a surah with another if they are not sequential, so we cannot join al-Faatihah with At-Tawbah or Al-Faatihah with Al-Ikhlaas, we can only join Al-Faatihah with the first aayah of surah al-Baqarah. The breathless pause when joining Al-Anfaal and At-Tawbah is unique to joining these two surah. |
