Question
Assalaamu 3alaykum dear respected teachers, All praise is due to Allah for having provided us students with good teachers, even though they may be thousands of miles away. May Allah bless you all and grant you the highest parts of Jannah, Aameen. I had a question about a special word in the Riwaayat Shu3bah from 3aasim: the word Milladnihii (second verse of surah al kahf). How exactly is that word read? Baarakallaahu feekum. Answer Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Jazakum Allahu khairan for your kind dua’. May Allah accept our righteous deeds and purify our intentions always. The word in aayah 2 of surah Al-Kahf is read as: in the riwaayah of Shu’bah. The is saakinah, but a ishmaan, or circling of the lips indicated a dhamm is done after the qalqalah of the . The that follows it has a kasrah as well as the after that, and there is on kasrah of the . To learn to read this word properly, one needs to visually see their teacher as well as hear them and their teacher needs to see and hear the student, since the ishmaam is seen and not heard. The qalqalah of the followed by the ishmaam is indeed a challenge, and many trying this for the first time make the error of putting a dhamm on the or not making the qalqalah on the before making the ishmaam. Another mistake that sometimes occurs is making a sound during the ishmaam. This word indeed takes practice to perfect, but needs to be practiced in front of a qualified teacher who is certified in the riwaayah of Shu’bah. Wa feekum al-barakah. Wa assalaam alaikum |
