Question
Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

Tafkheem question

When reading the name of Allaah subhaanahu wa ta'aalaa, for example, (Soorah Tawbah: Verse 51) also pronounced with tafkheem? Like "wa 'aLAL-LAAhi" or is it "wa 'alal-LAAhi", hope you understood. Jazaakallaahu khayran.

Answer
Wa alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barkaatuh
In the phrase:     وعلى الله , We make tafkheem of the laam which has a shaddah of the Glorious name of Allah and the alif which follows (not written, but pronounced) only.  There are two pronounced laams in the Glorious name of Allah because there is a shaddah.  Both the laam saakinah and the laam with a fathah of the shaddah have tafkehem.
We do not make tafkheem of the laam or the fathah on the laam of the word عَلَى.  This takes practice to read correctly since we pronounce two laams in a row, one with tarqeeq followed by a laam with tafkheem.
Wa iyyakum.
