Question
Salaam. i have a question regarding the ikhfa. i have heard some reciters read ikhfa similar to a idgham. are their two ways of reading ikhfa. sometime the ikhfa of sheikh minshawi and mustafa ismail sound different. i don't know, i might be wrong. Answer Wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh The majority read the ikhfa' as between an idghaam and idh-haar, meaning the mouth gets ready for the next letter without touching it (except for the kaaf and qaaf where there is a slight touch) during the ikhfa' and there is an accompanying nasalization from the nose. For more information about the different opinions on the ikhfa', please see: http://www.abouttajweed.com/kb/entry/338/ http://www.abouttajweed.com/kb/entry/87/ |
